Approaches for Data Exchange and Exploitation to Combine Asset Management Systems and BIM (AMSFree)
Asset Management (AM) includes the systematic and coordinated planning, administration, and maintenance of assets, i.e., the tangible and intangible values of an organisation, with the aim of creating value. According to the ISO 55000 standard [1], AM stands for «coordinated activities of an organisation to realise value from assets”, in particular, to ensure the desired condition or reliability and availability of the assets at the minimum cost and risk. The digitisation of asset management has led to the development of inventory and condition databases (AM-DB) as well as analytical IT tools that can be used to determine medium- to long-term maintenance and financial needs based on the condition of assets. The usefulness of the asset management systems depends very much on the data topicality in the AM-DB. Ideally, the current status of the transport infrastructure should be mapped in the AM-DB. The level of detail depends on the chosen ontology.
